How do I register as a Civilian?
Visit the Become a Civilian page and complete the registration form. Once approved, you will receive your IOV ID and can log in to your personal portal.
What is my IOV ID and where can I find it?
Your IOV ID is your unique identification number within the IOV. You receive it immediately after successful registration and can also find it in your personal portal under "My Data".
How do I change my personal data?
Log in using the "Sign In" button at the top right. Go to "My Data" and click the pencil icon (✎) next to the field you want to update. Your change request will be submitted to the IOV for review.
What proof do I receive after registration?
After your registration is approved you receive a confirmation with your IOV ID. This number serves as proof of your civilian status and is accessible in your portal at any time.
Is the IOV a government organisation?
The IOV is an international organisation operating within the framework of international law. It functions independently and grants civilian status to registered members based on principles of international law.
What does Article 25 of the Basic Law mean?
Article 25 of the German Basic Law (Grundgesetz) states that the general rules of public international law form an integral part of federal law. This gives international law direct effect within the national legal order.
How do I cancel a pending change request?
Log in to your portal and go to "My Data". Pending change requests are shown at the top with a "Cancel" button that lets you withdraw the request as long as it has not yet been processed.
